Review: iWorship Flexx

What’s Cool: Integrity’s iWorship Flexx is a revolutionary resource for worship leaders and churches that gives you the flexibility to control the flow of worship. Unlike other worship video resources (such as the original iWorship series) that force the user to play a song using a preset song arrangement and tempo, Flexx lets church media teams adapt to the worship leader’s preferred arrangement and tempo. The new “Flexx Clips” are individual video clips that correspond to a separate section of a song (Verse 1, Chorus, Bridge), allowing you to organize the song according to your personal style. It’s visual worship that “follows your lead.”

Simply organize the “Flexx Clips” in your presentation software according to the arrangement determined by the worship leader and then just follow along. If the worship leader skips a verse or wants to do the chorus again, no problem. Simply click on the clip of the chorus. Though it is fairly simple, some practice is needed to get the feel of each song, as they do differ. For a quick Flexx demo, click here.

The Volume 1 DVD, Mighty to Save, includes the following songs:

My Savior Lives - New Life Worship
Love The Lord - Lincoln Brewster
Mighty to Save - Hillsong
Your Name - Paul Baloche
Still - Hillsong
Friend of God - Israel Houghton
Everlasting God - Lincoln Brewster
From The Inside Out - Hillsong United
Offering - Paul Baloche
Made Me Glad - Hillsong
Amazed - Desperation Band
Hear Us From Heaven - New Life Worship
Revelation Song - Gateway Worship
Days of Elijah - Robin Mark
I Am Free - Jared Anderson

Each song comes in two formats, MPEG-1 and H.264, and also includes both a full-length video and the “Flexx Clips.” If you get confused or need some help, a video tutorial is included as well as a helpful FAQ and song guides.

What’s Not: Though the files on Flexx are separated by the sections of the song, they don’t adjust to the dynamics of the music. The same video clip plays for each chorus, whether big or small. Also, whoever is running the show must stay on top of their game. If you miss your cue to start the verse clip, then the entire verse will be behind, making it nearly impossible to catch up. Though it is intuitive, Integrity highly suggests you practice with the worship team until you get confident with the songs.

The actual video clips aren’t too impressive, as they are mainly generic clips of nature, but they are better than many of the other options out there. The music selection is also limited to Integrity artists and their songs, leaving many other great worship songs out of the list. Plus at a price of $150 for the 15 songs (some of which you might never use), some churches might just have to pass.

Bottom Line: iWorship Flexx is a new generation of worship video backgrounds that look great and are flexible, though they will take some practice and getting use to. While currently limited to a handful of worship songs and fairly simple videos, let’s only hope Integrity releases some more volumes soon.
