The Best Christian T-Shirt Of 2009

Posted by Scott McClellan on July 22nd, 2009 at 8:42 am

I’m a week late in posting this, and for that I apologize.

At this year’s International Christian Retail Show, Christian Retailing Magazine announced the winners of the 2009 Retailers Choice Awards. Alongside notable winners such as Crazy Love by Francis Chan (Best Christian Living book) and Nooma 019: Open featuring Rob Bell (best DVD/Video), was the winner in the Accessories/Apparel category: the Stick With Jesus T-shirt (pictured below).

The shirt is available from Kerusso here, and it’s worth noting that Kerusso took home the same award last year thanks to their Easy Button/Jesus Button shirt. So there you have it — the best Christian T-shirt of the year!

I'd have to say I disklike said company because of their lack of creativity. It's like they copy and rip off every brand known to man

And yet another reason "Christian" merchandising is horrible… originality? nah…we'll just use theirs….

I have to agree with Brian. I'm sort of disappointed that this was the best Christian t-shirt. Or maybe I'm more dismayed that Best Christian T-Shirt is even a category. This kind of art is completely unhelpful to Christians and non-Christians alike.

People who read Crazy Love or watch Bell's vid will never wear that shirt

Why do Christian t-shirts need to have bumper-sticker slogans and cheesy artwork? Why can't they have truly engaging artwork that may not even have any text at all? And while we're at it, can they move away from the basic standard t-shirt and instead design stylish clothing with graphics that happen to have Christian themes? I don't actually own any basic t-shirts anymore since they're just not my style, but I do have lots of other upper body apparel (tanks, t-shirts with more flattering cuts, hoodies with more style to the cut, etc.) with graphics, just nothing that even remotely resembles what Kerusso has for sale.

this is lame, i would never ever wear this. i am a musician, and a Christian, and i wouldn't be caught wearing this. surely we can be more creative than this. "Christian" shouldn't = mediocre and lame.

Scott, thanks for the report.
My thought: if you feel that your “life song” needs to be supplimented by cheesy apparrel, then you need to change your tune.

I really hope this is a joke… if not, I'm not sure if I can read anymore.
