At the same time, there are many churches out there that either have no desire to use video or they don't know how to use it. For these type of churches, just the use of a video is a big step. They don't know a single thing about quality, nor do they care.

I wholly agree. Video technology has been, and still is, evolving at the speed of light; unless your swimming in it daily, it's not easy to keep up. I think all aspects of church tech could use a "guide book" of sorts to say, here's good from bad. But that being said, where do you start? From the DV to RED, SD to HD, 'standards' are hardly in existence before there is something new to make you question what was previously a standard. Is this what things like expos, conferences, blogs, and websites are for?

Scott -

I think this is a subject that should definitely be discussed. Not simply in terms of quality of the content - which will always be subjective - but also in the technical quality. As in, what should the resolution be; what should the bit rate be? This is something we've been discussing at LifeWay for our downloads (http://blogs.lifeway.com/blog/digitalmedia/2008/11/delivering-hd-content-making-d.html).

Should everything be released in both HD and SD? Do churches even need HD yet?
