Question of the Day

Posted by Scott McClellan on January 7th, 2009 at 1:23 pm

A few of us were tossing this question around and I thought I’d pose it to you:

From what blog or blogger do you most anticipate a new post?

In other words, when you start checking blogs, where do you look first? Or when you launch your feedreader, what blog do you check first for the little “new blog post” indicator?

This website uses IntenseDebate comments, but they are not currently loaded because either your browser doesn't support JavaScript, or they didn't load fast enough.

I check Jason Boyett’s blog first.

I have a “must read” folder in NetNewsWire (works in Google Reader, too). I just hit that folder and read it.

Within that: My wife’s blog & twitter feed; my “all projects” feed from Basecamp; my Twitter replies feed.
Also in there, but rotating occasionally: Tim Ferris (4hr wk-week); Presentation Zen; Art of Manliness; and Ben Arment (he keeps it real!).

I also have a folder of smart tags, which search my feeds for various things like “Aperture”, “FCP OR Final Cut”, “presentation”.

You’re like, “that is WAY too much work, dude!”. True, but it’s quite efficient. I’ve been an RSS junkie for a long time, and try to keep up with a lot of topics. I’m playing with Yahoo Pipes to wire together views of what’s happening in the blog- and twitterspheres.

I also keep a folder of blogs that are longer reads, when time allows.

I also started listening to podcasts more this year – I don’t read news or politics blogs much anymore as a result. I reviewed a few here and here.

I was going to say something like Lifehacker, too, but I change my answer to Kyle’s blog. Thanks, Kyle.
