Posted by Scott McClellan on June 25th, 2008 at 8:56 am

At the end of last week we sent the July/August issue off to the printer and we couldn’t be more excited. Just so you’re giddy with anticipation, here’s a quick preview of some of the things July/August has to offer: (more…)

We’re Live!

Posted by Scott McClellan on May 13th, 2008 at 2:32 pm

After much trial, tribulation, debugging, propagation, and the laying on of hands, the new CollideMagazine.com is now live! There are a couple features that I hope you’ll check out when you get a chance:

First, UpFront (viewable on the home page or on the UpFront page). That’s where we’ll daily post links to news stories, blog posts, and whatever else tickles our fancy (an instant Links of the Week, if you will).

Second, the “We Network Socially At” section on the bottom right of most pages. There you’ll see links to our Facebook Page, Twitter feed, and MySpace profile because we’re so into Web 2.0 stuff. We’ll add more social network icons as we venture into other random networks.

Third, the Write for Collide page. This isn’t technically new, but now that our site is live we’re looking for some great online content.

There are a few other things we’re proud of, but I’ll let you discover those on your own. Click around the site and then let us know what you think ( feedback [at] collidemagazine [period] com ). We know there are still some nasty bugs and error messages lurking around the new site, so we value your feedback and patience.

Update: I forgot to mention that our blog URL has changed to http://www.collidemagazine.com/blog, so be sure to update your bookmarks, blogrolls, etc.

New Site Coming Today

Posted by Scott McClellan on May 12th, 2008 at 10:28 am

That brand new COLLIDE website we gave you a sneak peek at a few weeks ago is scheduled to go live by the end of the day today. We’re really excited about that prospect, but we’ve got a lot left to do today (hence the cop-out blog post). Once the new site goes live, we’ll post a list of features and fun stuff to check out.

In the meantime, keep hitting “refresh” like crazy …

The Cover We Did Use

Posted by Scott McClellan on May 5th, 2008 at 12:35 pm

Thanks to everyone who participated in the discussion following my “The Cover We Didn’t Use” post, which featured an iconic image of Christ plus some headphones to convey an idea from Tim Stevens’ “Pop Goes the Church” cover story. Because the brand new May/June issue is mailing out today, I thought it would be fun to share the cover we did use. Sadly, it will take 7-10 days for the issue to reach most of you, but I think it’s worth the wait. Enjoy: (more…)

The Cover We Didn’t Use

Posted by Scott McClellan on April 21st, 2008 at 1:09 pm

Our May/June issue is just about ready to go to the printer. While we’re busy putting the finishing touches on everything, we also decided that the cover we had in mind might be too offensive for print. After talking it over and thinking it through, we decided not to risk offending people with the image our amazing designer created to go with Tim Stevens’ “Pop Goes the Church” article. However, we like a good discussion on this blog, so we’ll show you the rejected, “is the world ready for this?” cover below.

I’d love to hear your thoughts. Are you offended? Do you love it? Were we right or wrong for opting to go with a different image? Keep in mind that the cover story is “Pop Goes the Church,” and that the image perfectly illustrates one of Tim’s assertions about how Christ would act if he were walking around our 21st-century world instead of 1st-century Palestine. (more…)
