Innovate Day 2: Blogging Breakout

Posted by Scott McClellan on September 28th, 2007 at 9:59 am

What could be better than blogging about a breakout session on blogging? Nothing, I say. Below you’ll find my notes from this morning’s breakout session led by Kem Meyer, Daryl McMullen, and Jason Powell from Granger Community Church. The notes are lengthy, but oh so informative. Enjoy! (more…)

Innovate Day 1 Recap

Innovate Day 1

Wow, Innovate is a great conference. All of the speakers have been wonderful so far, but I’m really impressed with the Innovate/Granger Community Church team. The hospitality, the conference book, the media, the ease of it all … I’ve really enjoyed the experience. At Granger, it seems like everything they do is both intentional and excellent. It’s easy to see why they’ve grown from church plant to 6000+ attendees in 21 years. It seems redundant to type out my notes from today’s sessions since so many other bloggers have already done so. Tim Stevens, who did a great job during his session today, has a quick list of Innovate bloggers here. And yes, I just found out the naked pastor is here. If I can swing it, I’m going to try to introduce myself tomorrow.

Innovate, like Buzz this summer, featured a film festival comprised of videos created by churches. Once again, I was really impressed by the creativity and skill of local church media teams, and I love how these kinds of film festival let other churches know what is possible when it comes to self-produced media. In a lot of ways, Granger is showing other churches what is possible as well. If you’re interested with infusing your church with new strategy and vision, Innovate 2008 should definitely be on your conference radar for next fall.

Your Feedback Wanted/Needed

Posted by Scott McClellan on September 27th, 2007 at 6:08 am

If you’ve had a chance to check out our first issue but you haven’t sent us your feedback yet, we’d love for you to do so. Send an email to feedback at collidemagazine dot com (spambots, are you fooled by that?) and let us know what you thought about our first issue, which article or feature was your favorite and why, or which article or feature you disagreed with and why.

We’ve already received a lot of great feedback, as well as some valuable constructive criticism, and we can’t wait for more. We’ll choose a few emails to print in our next issue, and then we’ll add our clever/snooty responses to them. I’m looking forward to reading your feedback.

Conference Season Has Begun

Innovate
I’m heading out to Innovate, hosted by Granger Community Church, today. I was already excited about the conference, and then Tim Stevens posted a small preview of his session this morning on his blog. The title of Tim’s post is “We Cannot Speak To A Culture We Despise.” Let that sink in for a minute. Needless to say, I can’t wait for the rest of Tim’s session. I’m looking forward to Guy Kawasaki’s session as well—he knows his stuff.  If you’ll be at Innovate, keep an eye out for me and introduce yourself.

Also, I’d like to thank Brian Moseley and the team at RightNow.org for allowing me to attend the LeadNow Conference in Dallas last week. The conference was a great gathering of 700 church leaders and featured really challenging messages from guys like Donald Miller and Dan Kimball. Next year’s LeadNow conference will feature Erwin McManus, so make plans to attend.
